Watts S. Humphrey founded the
Software Process Program of the Software Engineering Institute at
Carnegie
Mellon
University
. He is a Fellow of the
Institute and is a research scientist on its staff.
From 1959 to 1986, he was associated with IBM Corporation, where he
was director of programming and VP of Technical Development. His
publications include many technical papers and eleven books.
Some of his recent books are), Managing
Technical People (1996), Winning
With Software: An Executive
Strategy (2001), PSP: A Self-Improvement Process for Software Engineers (2005), TSP:
Leading a Development Team (2006),
and TSP, Coaching Development Teams (2006).
He holds five US
Patents. In 1991 he served on the
Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.

Suresh
Kumar is a Managing Director, Chief Information Officer, and a member of
the Executive Committee of Pershing LLC where he is responsible for

assurance.

Kumar is also the Chief Executive Officer of iNautix Technologies India
Private Limited, a technology affiliate of Pershing that provides offshore
development services. Before joining Pershing, Mr. Kumar was the Chief
Information Officer of CSFBdirect (now Harrisdirect).

Beth Chrissis
is a senior member of the technical staff at the SEI. Since 1988, Chrissis
has been involved in the development of all releases of the Capability
Maturity Model for Software and the CMMI(r) models. She is an author of CMMI
Guidelines for Process Integration and Product Improvement and is also
a principal contributor to The
Capability Maturity Model: Guidelines for Improving the Software Process.
Chrissis is a member of the CMMI(r) Configuration Control Board and
Architecture teams and manages the SEI’s CMMI Training team. Prior to
joining the SEI, Chrissis worked at GTE Government Systems in Rockville,
MD.

The Value of Managing the Review Process
Mr. Robert M. Chapman has eighteen years experience in software development including nine on development teams and nine on IV&V and IV&V research teams. He is the Principal Investigator for NASA’s Metrics Data Program. Now beginning its fifth year of operation, MDP collects software project artifacts; generates metrics on those projects; and makes the data available to the software community. As part of the MDP effort, his team was tasked to automate and collect metrics on the review process for NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, and for elements of Goddard Space Flight Center. His company, Integrated Software Metrics, Inc., commercialized the resulting tool,

Sharon Miller has over 30 years experience as a software process engineer, leading numerous internal software process assessments and ISO 9000 audits while with AT&T Bell Laboratories. Arlene Minkiewicz is the Chief Scientist for PRICE Systems, L.L.C. In this role, she leads the effort to provide Cost Research in support of PRICE’s entire suite of cost estimating products, including the PRICE Hardware and Software Models and the TruePlanning Suite of Products. Prior to this assignment, Ms. Minkiewicz functioned as the Director of Product Development, responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the PRICE products. During her 19 years with PRICE she has become a subject matter expert in the area of software cost estimating and software measurement and has developed a software cost estimating model based on an object-oriented software measurement system she invented. Buttles-Valdez is a member of the Technical Staff at the Software Engineering Institute and serves on the People CMM team. Palma holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an SEI-authorized Instructor for the Introduction to People CMM and Intermediate Concepts of the People CMM courses and a candidate SEI-authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser.
