As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) affects more communities across the United States and abroad, Southeastern Paper Group remains committed to the health, safety, and well-being of our customers and employees while serving the communities where we operate. We want to share an update on the proactive steps we are taking to do our part in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

For the well-being of our employees and all of our customers

The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is paramount. We have advised all employees on ways they can help protect themselves, their families and our customers. Using the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), we have shared the following with our employees and encourage customers to also protect themselves appropriately:

  • Wash your hands often, using soap and warm water.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Disinfect frequently touched items and surfaces.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • The preferred method for coughs and sneezes is to use tissues, and then discard.
  • If tissues are not available, cover coughs and sneezes using your arm to avoid spreading droplets.
  • Avoid any cruise ship voyages.
  • Avoid personal travel to high-risk geographies as defined by the CDC.
  • If you have symptoms, contact your primary care physician.

What we are doing to combat COVID-19

Since our sales reps and truck drivers will likely have the most contact with our customers, we have instituted the following requirements specifically for these employees:

  • Use hand sanitizer prior to entering a customer’s establishment and immediately after leaving the facility.
  • Politely greet customers but avoid handshakes.
  • Avoid sharing pens - politely ask customers to use their own writing instruments for signing paperwork.
  • Take every opportunity available to thoroughly wash your hands.
  • Notify your supervisor if you are made aware that a facility you visited was occupied by a person who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The safety of all of our employees remains a critical focus allowing us to continue serving customers and communities during this unprecedented time. We have put the following in place to ensure our entire team stays healthy:

  • SEPG is providing boxes of tissues and each employee is asked to keep a box at their desk/workstation. Tissues boxes will also be placed throughout our warehouses.
  • All company sponsored air travel will be suspended until further notice.
  • Employees should notify the HR Department if they have traveled outside the United States, or to any high-risk geography, within the past 30 days or plan any future travel.
  • Notify the HR Department if an employee or any member of their family, or if anyone they have come into close contact with, has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus or has potential symptoms that are being monitored.
  • Always wash hands at every opportunity with soap and warm water.

Product availability

All supply chains are being challenged. The only real shortages at this time are items such as hand sanitizers, hand soaps, disinfectant cleaners and wipes. Other products, such as toilet tissue, have seen tremendous spikes and may face short term outages. We continue to fill orders at high rates across most other categories.
